Barely got back to my seat with the drinks before Richie got knocked out. The Taylor's crew was in shock over his quick exit. I remember Jimmy Hayes telling us that he had a big victory party all planned out for Richie back at the bar. Most of the Flushing people left after the fight, but Ace and I stayed for the main bout - Larry Holmes against some kid named Harris out of Philly. Holmes got pounded for 12 rounds, but they gave gave him the decision anyway. The crowd booed and threw garbage into the ring. Another great night for boxing....

Mets Opening Day

Hi everyone! Just got back from my 29th consecutive Mets opening day and 34th overall.
It was a surreal feeling because we were in the picnic area - just a stones' throw away from the new Mets' stadium - CitiField..which was right behind us...
The Mets lost, but a good time was still had by all as the weather was cooperative (58 and sunny) and the beers flowed (and spilled, I'm sorry to report).
Above are some pics from my seat looking back at the new stadium...

The Beginning

Yes, we had uniforms, but getting everyone to wear them was another issue.
Remember the days of P.S. 107?
In 1980, we had quite a rag-tag group.
Wild Bill Brewer (in the center, with glasses) passed on a few years back. Boxie (at left, in yellow) is MIA. The rest I'm sure you can find in the phone book...
